Murder charges approved in shooting death of Qua’Lek Shelton

Update: Murder charges have been approved on the 18-year-old arrested this week in connection with the shooting death of Qua’Lek Shelton.

 

Friday, two counts of murder, six counts of felonious assault, and one count of discharge of a firearm on or near a prohibited premises were approved on Jackeem Collins to be presented to the Grand Jury.  Read more...

The city lost a champion athlete when 15-year-old Qua’Lek Shelton died Tuesday after he was one of two teens shot Sunday while they walked with friends on Catalpa Drive.

Hundreds honor the life of Dunbar teen killed in Dayton shooting

 

(WKEF/WRGT) -- A sea of balloons flooded the sky Friday as hundreds celebrated the life of the 15-year-old Dunbar student who was shot and killed.

 

Qua’Lek Shelton was known as a star athlete who had a huge impact on so many.

 

"He always kept a smile on his face, he was a positive kid, a funny kid too,” said Jamar Payton Jr., Shelton’s cousin.

 

Family members, friends, classmates and teammates gathered to remember the good times but still broken by their loss.
