The city lost a champion athlete when 15-year-old Qua’Lek Shelton died Tuesday after he was one of two teens shot Sunday while they walked with friends on Catalpa Drive.

(WKEF/WRGT) -- A sea of balloons flooded the sky Friday as hundreds celebrated the life of the 15-year-old Dunbar student who was shot and killed.
Qua’Lek Shelton was known as a star athlete who had a huge impact on so many.
"He always kept a smile on his face, he was a positive kid, a funny kid too,” said Jamar Payton Jr., Shelton’s cousin.
Family members, friends, classmates and teammates gathered to remember the good times but still broken by their loss.
